Bethel AOG Church shares one boundary with a public park, a rare siting situation in Singapore. It is also sited along a major expressway. Thus the design takes advantage of the greenery to create a church in the park concept, designing the approach sequence through the park and into the building.
Bethel, in the bible, relates to the stairway to heaven. Thus the steps are conceptualized as the central circulatory route that bring worshippers from the park to the worship sanctuary and upwards till they culminate at the baptism pool. Moreover, the steps are deliberately designed as fellowship spaces just outside the sanctuary. The stepping concept is further employed as an ID feature from sanctuary wall cladding to toilet features, to bring a level of completeness to the project.
The church houses a sanctuary seating 800, a multi-purpose space and prayer rooms.
